In some countries abortion is
legalized; nevertheless, abortion is a very inhumane act. Abortion should be illegal as a
child, whether he/she is born
or not, has the right to live and nobody has a right to curtail the life of
something that providence has created. People can have better alternatives to
abortion such as adoptions, therefore mothers should think carefully before they decide to terminate their own children. Moreover, the risks of abortion overweight the
advantages that abortions can lead to many serious physical and mental health
problems.
Just don't say the A-word!
You have made a lot of progress. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI will show you how to order the posts on our next class.
The opening sentence of your conclusion is redundant (not needed).
ReplyDeleteDo you want to fix this "I believe that abortion should be illegal as a child, whether he/she is born or not ..." After all it cannot be abortion if the child is already born. It is then infanticide.
Try to avoid ... phrases like "I belief, I strongly disagree..... don't forget the sheet i handed out in week 7 lecture.
Thanks for your comment! I already edit my conclusion as well as cut all the phrases that is not necessary in the text. About the sentence "Abortion should be illegal as a child, whether he/she....", do you have any suggestion that I could use to fix it???
DeleteThere may be different circumstances for different people. For example, there could be extreme cases where women are raped and become pregnant as a result. I don't necessarily think that making abortions illegal is the answer because if it were made illegal, people may find other ways of getting abortions which are not entirely safe.
ReplyDeleteHi Kyungohk,
DeleteI know there are many different opinions on this issue and everybody has their own point of view on this controversial topic but in this blog, I just try to focus on explaining why abortion should be illegal as it's a moral issue. The unborn children are not the one who have to suffer for the act of the mothers or the fathers. It's not their fault to be brought to this world. As I mention in my post "Abortion and responsibility", in any circumstance, a child is a gift of God and people can choose adoptions as an alternative for abortions.
I'm strongly pro-choice, but your made some very good points in this blog and almost changed my mind. However, I feel that if abortion was made illegal people would find other alternatives which may be unsafe (eg. the coathanger method).
ReplyDeleteAlso doesn't the woman have some right over what happens to her body? You don't cease to be a human just because you get pregnant.
For those reasons I have to disagree with your opinion on this. But the blog is good!
You made good points and I think the only thing that raises a huge issue is if the woman was raped. Yes, its immoral, but would you want a living proof that you were raped? You would have every right to not want to keep the baby. It is immoral to take the life of a child, but there is an exception to every rule.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very heated issue and I feel that you addressed many of the pervading thoughts, life is essential in all forms, and there are those that are unfit to tend to a child. However, it is far too blanketing in my opinion and in cases like unplanned pregnancy or rape, it can cause a grey area, there must be circumstantial clauses in this type of thinking because this extreme could be just as destructive, the theory is largely sound and I enjoyed your piece.
