Introduction

Abortion has been an arguable topic for as long as the idea has existed and it continues to be a controversy between pro and con supporters. There are so many different opinions on why people are for and against abortion.

People argue that it is the mother's body, the mother's choice and the unborn may not be considered human. Others say that a life is a life, no matter how small it is and unborn children deserve the right to live.

I'm strongly against the idea and practice of abortion and in my blog, there will be three arguments explaining why abortion should be illegal.

The first argument will be that the fetus is a human being from conception, this makes abortion murder and that is immoral and illegal.

The second argument will address the effects of abortion to the mothers, both physically and mentally.

The final argument will be that people should take responsibility for their actions instead of terminating the babies no matter what.

  1. i strongly agree with you that abortion should be illegal because it is exactly the same as killing someone. even though people say that it is up to the parent well that is unfair for the child who wasn't even given a chance. but good blog i enjoyed reading it.

  2. I am not necessarily pro abortion in the sense that 'killing is okay' but I am pro choice. You can argue that it is unfair for it be entirely up the parent, but in retrospect, the fetus is growing inside HER body. Even mothers who had children have to make choices FOR them, that they may not agree with. Why? Because they are the mother. I believe that the option of abortion should be legal, it should be entirely up the mother. Just as cancer patients are told that something is growing inside of them, and they are given the CHOICE to seek treatment, or not. Take that same example of a unborn child(and in noway am I saying they are a 'cancer') but the mother is put in a situation where its her body, and her choice. In regards to the rape argument that you made, again I promote choice. I don't think it is fair to tell a young girl that was robbed of her consent and choice into having sex in the first place, that now she does not have the choice on whether she wants to keep her rapist's child. With the statement you included explaining that it was God's will if the rape victim gets pregnant is a very dangerous, and degrading statement. It not only puts added responsibility onto a victim, but it detracts the accountability of the rapist, because he is ultimately being told that he has done God's work. What about the hundreds of rape cases, which involve girls as young as 9 getting pregnant after being raped- http://www.sandiegored.com/noticias/34206/9-year-old-girl-raped-by-Stepfather-gives-birth/. They are only children themselves, how can you expect them to be mothers?
With your adoption argument, if everyone all of the world kept every child, the adoption system would collapse even more than it is now. There are too many children in the system as is. I also think that the decision to abort is not a malicious act, I do not believe that every women who goes in for abortion thinks to herself "I want to kill this life", most of the time that woman is putting the child first, because they are well aware that they cannot support that child- and more importantly, they know that if they do not want the child but keep it regardless, that child will grow up with a parent that continuously reflects that they did not want them. So yes, basically I think the choice should be there for people, just as it is a choice to be religious, it is a choice to be a good parent or a bad parent, so why should there not be a choice in being a parent at all?

Hope I am not sounding too harsh, you have done so much work on this topic, and have written about it in high detail. But those are my opinions. Well done :)
